HIGHLIGHT CLIPPING AND COLOUR SATURATION

following on from the previous exercise, colour saturation
is affected by the quality if light available when setting
the exposure levels.

Exposure setting in the last exercise were set
based on the variation between the extreme
highlight and the extreme shadow.

This exposure settings not only changes the
variation between the amount of light captured
but it also is about the control of the light
tonal range and colour balance.

When taking the image the colour can be set
based on the light available and this can
balance the colour quality of the light, such
as cloudy skies can give a blue tone hue to
images so you can counterbalance by adding
more red when taking the image.

The raw images below show the variation
on colour tones based on the exposure setting
for the variation of light of the dark background
and the extreme light from the sun burst in the
background of the image.

the exposure variations are minimal but the overall tone
levels are of a greater effect than that of the exposure
changes.
