The assignment should be un structured and open ended.
The images will be unpredictable and will be of high quantity.
potentially editing during the shoot.
Subject can be street photography based.

Notes from the shoot.
The day before the shoot the weather was amazing with
clear blue skys and the quality of light was excellent.
I had planned my work flow the day before so had
based a lot of the shots on good light. The day of the shoot
the morning was very grey and the sky was overcast.
I arrived at St Paul's to be greeted by the anti capitalism
protesters I spent some time at the camp, to listen
to the speakers and once I observed the camp
I took some images. I think I was too conscious
of taking images and rushed them so I am disappointed
at the sharpness of the images and should have chosen
a higher shutter speed and reduce the aperture settings.
I walked over the Milliuem bridge and arrived at the
Tate Modern. I ventured down the river concentrating
on photographing the interaction of the people by the river.
I am not use to photographing street scenes so experimented
with composition based on telling a story of the scene rather
than the aesthetic balance of the image. The light restricted
the aperture levels and I considered increasing the film speed.
As I continued to walk down the river the light changed and
as the sun was lower in the afternoon sky the light become
warmer.
I walked down the river and concentrated on photographing
the people using the river. I walked up onto the bridge in front
of the eye and the clouds began to part so I concentrated my
time on photographing the eye. I had noticed that one of the
pods was different from the others as it was red. I wanted
to use this as the focal point of the images.
I continued to photograph on the bridge and moved
closer to the eye and ended up shooting under the eye.
I changed lens to the closer telescopic lens so I could
pick out the individual pod.
As the light faded I noticed that the light was falling
behind the houses of Parliament so experimented
on taking some shilloute shots of the sky line.
The light was poor now so i tried to take some more
shots of people as I walked back towards Trafalgar
square.
I did not edit my images as I was working on the shoot.
I made sure that my exposure levels were ok and checked
the histogram levels but could not see in too much detail
on my screen the issues with image sharpness. I have noticed
over the time doing this course that I should tried to avoid
wide apertures as I am often disappointed at the image quality
when I return from the shoot. I think I do not want to shoot
below f8 unless it is for artistic use of for image isolation.
EDITING IMAGES.
I took 160 images on this shoot.
The first action was to upload the images form
the camera into my Pc for editing in Photoshop.
I saved the images in to the OCA folder that I have
set up onto my pc. I have found it easier to log the
images by dates and marking in my diary the date
of each photographic shoot so that I can easily refer
back to the images. I will also now log each shot in
my hardback oca book.
Images uploaded into Bridge
ALL IMAGES SHOT AS RAW.
EDITING PROCESS.
- I did not convert the images when I loading them into photoshop
I wanted to edit the white balance and light individually as the light
had varied throughout the day.
- I used bridge to select the images I wanted to re process.
- I used photoshop to edit each image.
- Adjustments made- white balance correction
- addition of light
- addition of contrast
- addition of tone
Final selection of images.
STORAGE
all images saved and backed up onto external hard drive
LESSON LEARNT/COMMENTS
Planning a work flow meant that I was very organised on
the shoot and had all the equipment I needed and could
solely concentrate on taking the shots.
I am need to work out how I can edit as I go along. I never
delete any images as I shot, should I do that? I would also
like to make sure I improve the quality of my images and
slow down and not rush so I can ensure that the image
is captured correctly such as sharpness. I think that
shutter speed priority may be better
