ARTFICAL LIGHTING-SOFTEN THE LIGHT

EXERCISE

Objective-still life arrangement , demonstrate the light quality and differences from using a diffused light
and a bright harsh light

DIFFUSED

HARSH

The diffused light gives a much softer image as the shadows are less hard and also the light is
" diffused" or spread evenly over the image.

The Harsh light creates a deep shadow to the side of the object. It is also a stronger light and so illuminates
more of the background.

I did not adjust the exposure levels between each shot and so the Diffused light looks darker.
I think a 2 stop compensation is required when you filter the light with a diffusers.

Comments

Experiment with exposure levels and diffusers- is two stops right?
